About Art Therapy

Art therapy uses visual art media as the primary mode of expression and communication. By exploring different colours, textures, shapes and media, art is used to explore thoughts or feelings that may be difficult or distressing.

This way of working can be used when someone is experiencing a mental health crisis but it can also be used as a tool to promote creative expression, confidence and communication.

You do not need to be good at art to benefit from art therapy. The focus is on helping you or your child to find their own creative resources, reducing anxiety, and encouraging self-awareness.

To find out more about art therapy, please visit the British Association of Art Therapists or contact me for further information.

With many thanks to the children and adults who have given permission for their works to be exhibited here, and throughout this website.
